2017 International Jazz Music Festival opens in Nanjing

  If you are a hard-core jazz fan, here’s your opportunity to enjoy performances of jazz bands across the world without going abroad. The 2017 International Jazz Music Festival was opened last Friday at the Music Hall of Nanjing Culture and Art Center. More than 40 musicians will hold over 20 concerts in different cities of Jiangsu Provinces from October 13th to October 24th.

  As the opening of the festival, the concert last Friday saw the performances of 8 jazz bands from Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, the UK, the US, and the Netherlands. The jazz band of Middle Tennessee State University from the US kicked off the concert with their stunning performances. (SOT)

  Most of the musicians are actually first-time participants of the International Jazz Music Festival held by the Jiangsu Provincial Government.

  As part of the activities of “Shared Joy in Jiangsu”, the jazz concert will also go to other parts of Jiangsu Province, such as Wuxi, Suzhou, Huan’an, Lianyuangang starting from October 16th. Meanwhile, the organizers also invite renowned flute performer Lydia Yu-Lun Yang to share the stage with Gasper from Belgium and Boréale from France.

  The International Jazz Music Festival is an annual event organized by the Information Office of Jiangsu Provincial Government starting from 16 years ago. This year’s festival was also sponsored by the Culture and Arts Center of Jiangsu Province, the Performing Company of Jiangsu Province, and Nanjing Culture and Art center. Meanwhile, the festival also received massive support from JSCHINA.com, Map Magazine, and cultural centers of the host cities.
