David Lyttle, an artist on the project of Musicians in Residence organized by British Council, gave a residency concert in China Kunqu Museum in Suzhou .
Fusing western contemporary music with Kunqu, Pingtan, and Guzheng, David Lyttle, the famed musician surprised the audience with a mind-blowing concert. Seemingly at two ends of the spectrum and contradictory, western jazz and traditional Chinese elements flow in harmony. Though with barriers of language and culture, these musicians talked and communicated with their music, letting everybody presented appreciate the power of this universal language.
After this 5-week stay in Suzhou, David was leaving for home—northern Ireland. Born in a family of music, David started to perform at an early age and has made a lot of achievements so far. This was his first time in Suzhou, the first time in China even Asia. Suzhou, gave him a lot.
Musicians in Residence, organized by British Council, is a flagship music program and carried out for the fourth time in China.
