Construction on the Yancheng-Nantong high-speed railway went underway Tuesday morning. This is the final project of China's coastal high-speed rail route which will integrate the north Jiangsu regions into the national high-speed railway network.
The 156.6-km Yancheng-Nantong high-speed railway is designed with an hourly speed of 350 kilometers. Total investment is expected to hit 26.2 billion yuan. The construction will last four years. Bridges will be constructed on 93.4% of the route. Six stations will be built along the route, specifically Yancheng, Dafeng, Dongtai, Hai’an, Rugao South and Nantong West.
Upon the completion of the project, China's coastal high-speed rail route will be joined up. The railway is expected to play an active role in promoting the construction of coastal economic belt in the province’s "1+3"strategy and the integration and development of North Jiangsu and central Jiangsu region and the Yangtze River Delta region.
Jiangsu is scheduled to kick off the construction on the Yangtze River high-speed railway in south Jiangsu, the phase II project of the Shanghai-Nantong high-speed railway and the Shanghai-Suzhoi-Huzhou high-speed railway.
Efforts will be made to make preparation for the construction of four other high-speed railways such as the Nanjing-Huai’an high-speed railway and the Nantong-Suzhou-Jiaxing high-speed railway.
