After design, manufacture, commissioning and trial run lasting 22 months, the first train of Suzhou Rail Transit Line 3 has been successfully delivered at Songling Depot.
According to the original project, the trial operation of Line 3 will start in December 2019. A total of 50 trains, 300 cars of line 3 has applied B-type vehicles. Identical to cars on line 4, the car body of line 3 is drum-shaped with a capacity of 2,034 seats and a maximum operating speed of 80km/h.
Thanks to the orange color and original shape of the car head, Line 3 is adorably called “Orange Girl” by local citizens.
In function, environmental protection and energy saving are its main characteristics. The whole vehicle of line 3 adopts the concept of “weight reduction”, in which the car body is made of large-scale hollow profiles, and the detail parts such as the door armrest are made of aluminum alloy. The empty trailer weighs 31 tons and the car’s body weight is less than 6.5 tons, both are less than the related data of Line 4. “As the vehicle is lighter, the traction and braking energy consumption are lower.” Liu Chuan working with Nanjing Puzhen Vehicle Co., Ltd. said.
LED lights are used in all lighting of the vehicles, air-conditioning setting keeps high-efficiency with low noise and the optimized the air vent. The vehicles also use straight-spoke wheels with noise reduction ring, five-storey floor structure to reduce driving noise and make the ride more comfortable.
In addition, the interior design of the car is more people friendly. For example, the design of the arch over the seat, the choice of the window frame color, and other details provide the passengers with more pleasant travel experience.
