The city of Zhangjiagang ushered in its first ever river cruise ship in a bid to promote the development of cruise liner projects along the Yangtze River and fuel the construction of a cruise port.
At 8:30 in the morning, more than 300 tourists from all over the world came to experience the ecologically slow life as the Yangtze River cruise liner “Century Sky” made its first call at the Zhangjiagang Shuangshan Island Ferry.
The Shuangshan Island Tourist Resort, located in the Yangtze River, covers an area of approximately 20 square kilometers. It is one of the best-preserved islands in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze.
Zhangjiagang will invest 400 million yuan this year on infrastructure and environmental improvement such as roads, water systems and greening to create a smart tourism system on Shuangshan Island.
The city will also tap the first ever docking of a cruise ship to promote the development of cruise ship projects along the Yangtze River by building a cruise ship terminal and a modern cruise ship center.
