The Delegation of the European Union to China inaugurated on Monday a celebration of Europe Day in Nanjing, capital of east China’s Jiangsu province.
The representatives of the EU Delegation to China, think tanks, the Jiangsu local government and the Chinese and European businesses in Jiangsu attended the reception hosted jointly by the Nanjing Chapter of the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce at the Intercontinental Hotel to explore the still evolving economic relationship between China and Europe and the prospect of the investment between EU and Jiangsu.
In this event, Mr. Ulrich Weigl, Minister-Counsellor, Head of Trade Section of the EU Delegation to China delivered a speech and presented the key figures and facts on EU-China trade and investment. The representatives from the European and Chinese businesses in Jiangsu shared their experiences in investing in China and Europe and discussed the opportunities and challenges under the guidance of recent favourable policies.
The Council of Europe was founded on 5 May 1949, and hence it chose that day for its celebrations when it established the holiday in 1964.
