The 2017 public environmental awareness survey report was released on Monday. The Jiangsu Provincial Environmental Protection Research Center for Public Relations issued the report before the World Environment Day, which falls on June 5th.
The survey mainly evaluates the level of public environmental awareness from two aspects of environmental awareness and environmental protection. Environmental awareness includes knowledge of environmental protection and concerns about environmental issues and environmental quality. Environmental behavior includes personal environmental protection and participation in environmental public affairs.
According to the survey, the province's public environmental awareness index reached 77.4 points out of a full score of 100. Among them, 18-40 year-olds had the highest environmental awareness score.
The survey shows, the higher the level of education, the higher the level of environmental awareness and the higher the degree of environmental participation.
The survey also shows that 95.01% of the respondents were highly concerned with environmental issues with 78.39% focusing on environmental quality. Air pollution and water pollution have attracted the most attention in many environmental issues. 73.07% and 67.12% of the respondents are concerned about atmospheric pollution and water pollution.
The survey found that the vast majority of respondents were able to practice environmental behavior more or less in their daily lives. 45.61% of the respondents often choose green trips, while only 25.25% of them often do waste sorting, and only 23.66% of them often bring their own shopping bags.
