Crowds of green-shirted cyclists descended on Shuangshan Islandin Zhangjiagang, East China's Jiangsu province on June 4 to mark World Environment Day. The event had a riding distance of eight kilometers and attracted 140 representatives from 100 companies and more than 60 cycling enthusiasts.
Riders in green shirts set off from Dabodun Wetland Park and headed toward Daxitan Park to appeal to companies situated along the Yangtze River to take actions to reduce pollution and protect the environment.
Launched in 1974, the World Environment Day is celebrated every June 5 and has developed into a global platform for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of the Earth’s environment.
