The matching of colored rice has formed many distinctive patterns and come up with rice oil paintings along a highway in Yizheng district of Yangzhou city to greet the upcoming Provincial Horticulture Expo.
In the rice fields along the highway, these different colors of rice, through different creative designs and color combinations, constitute the local architecture and cultural symbols such as Wuting Bridge and Yangzhou style potted landscape.
In recent years, authorities in Yangzhou have explored the adjustment of rice cultivation structure, and selected seven suitable ornamental varieties from the 23 colorful rice varieties that include green, yellow, red, purple and white.
These varieties of colored rice are cultivated over 33 hectares of fields. They are now mature enough to feast the eyes of the visitors.
In addition to their beautiful colors, the colored rice varieties also contain essential trace elements such as iron, zinc and selenium, which have high nutritional value. In the next step, Yangzhou will promote the cultivation of colored rice over wider areas.
