The TSMC Nanjing project kicked off mass production on Wednesday, marking a new breakthrough in the promotion of cross-strait industrial cooperation, according to a press conference. Zhang Ping, Vice Chairman of the Cross-Strait Entrepreneur Summit, Lou Qinjian, secretary of the provincial party committee, and Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, attended the event.
Lou Qinjian met with Liu Deyin, chairman of TSMC, and his delegation, and on behalf of the provincial party committee and the provincial government, congratulated TSMC on the mass production of the Nanjing project.
Lou said that the IC industry, as the core of the information technology industry, has a basic, leading and strategic role and huge market demand, making it important for the optimization of the industrial structure, accelerate transformation and upgrading, and achieve priority support for high-quality development.
Jiangsu is an important integrated circuit industry cluster area in the Chinese mainland and TSMC is the world's leading enterprise in the IC manufacturing industry, he said, adding that the cooperation between TSMC and Jiangsu will promote related technological innovation and further accelerate the industry and create a broader space for development.
The CPC Provincial Chief said that Jiangsu will, as always, fully support the accelerated construction of the TSMC Nanjing project, enhance the protection of intellectual property rights, create a favorable environment, and provide convenient, efficient and high-quality services.
He hoped that TSMC will dynamically look at market demand, seize opportunities, and take the opportunity to accelerate the construction of the second phase of the project so as to make TSMC Nanjing a successful example of cross-strait industrial cooperation and enhance the overall competitiveness of the IC industry across the Taiwan Straits in a mutually beneficial and win-win situation.
Wu Zhenglong said that the cooperation between Jiangsu, Nanjing and TSMC and the mass production of TSMC Nanjing project is a successful example of cross-strait industrial integration development.
We will, as always, fully support the development of TSMC in Jiangsu, create a better business environment, share the high-quality development opportunities of Jiangsu with Taiwan compatriots, and make greater efforts to enhance the well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait, the governor said.
Liu Deyin said that the mass production of the TSMC Nanjing project has showcased another major breakthrough in the cross-strait industrial cooperation, adding that TSMC is very optimistic about Jiangsu's development and will build TSMC Nanjing project into an important base for global operation of TSMC.
He said TSMC will strive to take advantage of Jiangsu's advanced technology and optimal business model to help Jiangsu build a highland in the semiconductor industry and play a more active role in promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two sides.
