Before 2014, China's M42 bimetallic materials mainly relied on imports. In the past three years of research and development, Tiangong’s R&D institution has made breakthroughs in hundreds of trial production, testing, analysis and re-production before finally making breakthroughs by using world-leading smelting technology to make oxygen, nitrogen and other major indicators measure up to the pure level, which has paved the way for the localization of M42 bimetals to replace imported M42 materials.
By exporting its M42 bimetals to developed countries and some emerging economies, Tiangong Group was placed the third in the 2017 global ranking by the world's leading SMR steel and metal products market research centers.
The enhancement of the independent corporate innovation capability is also inseparable from the support of government policies. Authorities in Danyang have issued a special plan for the construction of scientific and technological platforms and promoted the establishment of the key laboratory for high-performance mold new materials and other research institutions so as to help promote more independent innovation results through assistance policies.
At present, Tiangong is making active exploration in the development of new materials. Early this year, the company invested 500 million yuan on the launch of the first powder metallurgy production line in China. Powder metallurgy materials feature low energy consumption, high added value and less environmental pollution, making them internationally recognized as high-end technology materials. This is also an important step for Tiangong to explore the high-end market and participate in broader international competition.
