Two mammoth ivory sculptures created by Chinese arts and crafts master Xiao Jianbo were invited to participate in the 24th French International Cultural Heritage Exhibition.Ivory carving is a national intangible cultural heritage in Changzhou city.

Unlike traditional ivory carvings, the two original innovations Xiao displayed in the Louvre were made from mammoth ivory.

As a national intangible cultural heritage, ivory carving has a history of traceable inheritance for thousands of years. In order to strengthen the protection of elephants, the State Council has explicitly stopped the commercial processing and sales of ivory and products. To this end, the artists have taken a different approach to inheriting the skills of ivory carving.

China now allows the import and trading of mammoth ivory.

As the oldest and most important cultural heritage event in Europe, this year's French International Cultural Heritage Exhibition brings together many world-class masters of intangible culture.
