The in-town check-in service for Nanjing Lukou International Airport was put into trial operation at Nanjing South Railway Station on Dec. 11.
Passengers can enjoy one-stop services, such as check-in, seat selection and baggage check-in at the railway station, travel light to the airport and go to boarding gate after passing the security check.
The in-town terminal is located on the railway station’s first floor, with an area of 606 square meters. It currently provides eight major types of services, including check-in, baggage check-in, information inquiry, ticket sales, flight information check, pre-security check, and airport shuttle bus.
The transit service system can help save about one hour for passengers to check in than at the airport. The Lukou Airport used to cover cities within a radius distance of 200 kilometers from it, including Ma’anshan, Wuhu, Chuzhou and Zhenjiang. The high-speed railway enables the airport to cover cities within a radius distance of 300 km from it, expanding its influence to cities like Zaozhuang, Xuzhou, Suzhou, Lu'an, Anqing, Chizhou and Tongling. The airport now covers a population of at least 50 million from the previous 20 million.
