Jiangsu Province Supply and Marketing Cooperatives has relied on the stake-holding of agricultural service institutions to extend the service chain, improve the level of agricultural socialization services, and provide specialized, integrated and accurate services for large grain growers.
Zhang Jianguo, a well-known grain grower of Yixing County, has ushered in a good harvest from his 1,100 mu of farm fields. He has attributed his bumper harvest to the nanny-style service from the Wuxi Tianxin Modern Agriculture Comprehensive Service Center, a stake-holding agency of the Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperative.
The high cost of agricultural production and the difficulty in production management is the hardest part for grain growers. The Provincial Supply and Marketing Cooperatives have therefore invested in agricultural social service organizations while operating the distribution of pesticides and other materials.
This year, Tianxin Agriculture received a capital injection of 8 million yuan from the supply and marketing cooperatives, and launched 40 sets of automatic grain drying and water-flowing lines. The daily drying of rice reached 1,000 tons, effectively solving the difficulty of grain drying.
At present, Tianxin Agricultural is entrusted with the management of a large area of 6,400 mu of farmland that reach out to 10,000 mu of farmland in the surrounding areas.
Yangxiang Modern Agricultural Comprehensive Service Center, Tianxin Modern Agriculture Comprehensive Service Center and other agricultural socialization service institutions controlled by the supply and marketing cooperatives have provided farmers with full-process services from seedling, fertilization, pesticides to grain purchase to processing and sales while also established three service models including full management, semi-management and customized management.
In the past two years, the "new rural modern circulation service network project" of the state and provincial supply and marketing cooperatives have invested a total of 189 million yuan in agricultural social service institutions to have benefited 306 farming households.
