Sponsored by the Department of Culture, Radio, Film, TV, Press and Publication of Nanjing and the Nanjing Municipal Museum, organized by Nanjing Municipal Museum, Nanjing Institute of Archaeology, Zhenjiang Museum, Yangzhou Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology and Yangzhou Museum, the Archaeological Achievements Exhibition of Nanjing, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou will be displayed in the multi-function display hall of Nanjing Museum on December 28, 2018.
The exhibition displays around 200 cultural relics discovered from nearly 30 archaeological sites in Nanjing, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou. Among these relics, Diexie Gold Belt of Tang Dynasty discovered from Emperor Sui Yang Mausoleu, Caozhuang, Yangzhou in 2013 is the only complete thirteen-ring Diexie Belt in China, which is the highest level of belt system. In the meanwhile, because of the large amount of high-level unearthed burial objects and their mutual verification with literature, which had a significant impact, the archaeological project was elected as one of the “top 10 New Archaeological Discoveries in China.”
A Yuan Dynasty censer with patterns of sea and dragon discovered in Jingkou Sluice Gate of Zhenjiang is up to 70 centimeters. The two ears and three feet of it can be split off the censer. It is a quite large blue-and-white porcelain of Yuan Dynasty discovered in China.
The Jingkou gate, also known as the Great Gate, was established in the Tang Dynasty. It is the essence of the cultural heritage of the Grand Canal and has important historical and cultural value.
There are more than 100 cultural relics unearthed in Nanjing in this exhibition. Among them, the Xijie site, which is still being discovered, is the most exquisite with its discoveries. The excavation of the site, which reflects the development and changes of the city of Nanjing, provides an important clue for the search for the earliest city pool in Nanjing, the Yuecheng site.
