The Jiangsu delegation to the Second Session of the 13th National People's Congress held a plenary meeting Thursday afternoon to review the relevant documents of the session.
Lou Qinjian, head of the Jiangsu delegation, secretary of the provincial party committee and chairman of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, presided over the meeting.
Wu Zhenglong, deputy head of the delegation, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor and deputy heads of the delegation Jiang Zhuoqing, Wang Like, Chen Zhenning, attended the meeting.
The NPC deputies from Jiangsu reviewed the government work report, the implementation of the National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2018 and the National Economic and Social Development Plan for 2019, the implementation of the central and local budgets for 2018, and the central and local budgets for 2019, the draft of the work report of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, the work report of the Supreme People's Court, and the work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate. They also reviewed the draft of the Foreign Investment Law and relevant decisions.
Lou Qinjian said the plenary meeting is the last of its kind for the Jiangsu delegation during the annual session of the NPC. During the two sessions, the NPC deputies from Jiangsu carefully studied the spirit of the important speech made by General Secretary Xi Jinping when joining panel discussions with lawmakers from some provinces. The General Secretary’s important instructions on the development of literary and social sciences, ecological civilization, poverty alleviation, rural revitalization, development of the environment, and the work on Taiwan are the requirements put forward by standing at a high level, which has further deepened the understanding of the major decision-making of the central government and the government work and provide an important follow-up for us to do a good job in all aspects of work.
Lou hoped that all the NPC deputies from Jiangsu will strengthen their political awareness and be a model for studying and implementing the spirit of the central government, dedicate to their work to be the builders of a high-level and comprehensive well-off society and keep close contact with the people to act as spokespersons for the people's interests.
He hoped that the NPC deputies will adhere to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era, and study and implement the spirit of the two sessions as a concrete manifestation of strengthening the "four consciousnesses", strengthening "four self-confidences", safeguarding the centralized and unified leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core and publicizing the country’s great achievements and the latest policies among the grassroots communities.
