China Grand Canal Museum is to be constructed in Yangzhou to become a new landmark in the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt, local sources said on Tuesday.

The Grand Canal Museum will be built in Sanwan Park, Yangzhou City, adjacent to the Silhouette Bridge, with a total construction area of 80,000 square meters, including 50,000 square meters above ground and 30,000 square meters underground. There are several theme exhibition halls and archaeological research institutes, cultural creation products sales and other functional areas.

The Grand Canal Museum is a modern comprehensive museum integrating cultural relics protection, scientific research, exhibitions and leisure experiences. It is designed with Tang Dynasty architectural charm. In addition, a pier will also be built to enable visitors to take a boat ride from the Slender West Lake to the Grand Canal Museum.

The exhibition concept of the Grand Canal Museum will be based on the development of the Grand Canal. Focusing on the characteristics of the Grand Canal and the Jiangsu section, the Grand Canal will showcase the beautiful life of the Grand Canal. At present, there are two permanent exhibitions that have been initially identified, namely "World Cultural Heritage - China's Grand Canal" and "Successful in the Future". In the future, the Grand Canal Museum will become a new landmark in the construction of the Grand Canal Cultural Belt.
