Train tickets for the upcoming Labor Day holiday are available. Some train routes will be adjusted with the new train scheduled that will be implemented on April 10.
On April 2nd, passengers are able to buy their coveted train tickets for May 1st. On April 5th, they can buy train tickets for May 4th, the last day of the Labor Day holiday.
There will be a sudden surge in the number of passengers during the holiday which has been extended from three days to four days.
Train tickets to Beijing, Wuhan, Chongqing, Nanjing, Chengdu, Xi’an and other hot destinations will fall short of supply. Passengers are advised to make prior reservation for their tickets.
The new trains schedule is to be in force on April 10th. The time spent on travel between Beijing and Qingdao, Beijing and Lanzhou and Lanzhou and Chengdu will be shortened. It will take three hours to travel from Beijing South to Qingdao North on the bullet train, a decline of 49 minutes from the earlier train schedule.
This year, the Labor Day holiday will be expanded to four days. The Labor Day holiday, used to be a seven-day break, was shortened to three days in 2007.
The pre-planned one-day break falling on May 1 will be adjusted to a four-day holiday starting from May 1 to May 4, according to the release, while April 28 and May 5 will be work days.
Tourism departments are urged to get fully prepared for transportation support and tour products supply to secure travelers a safer holiday.
