East Chinas Jiangsu province celebrated the 4th edition of China Space Day on Wednesday in a variety of ways.

Primary and secondary schools across the province organized a variety of thematic activities to stimulate children's scientific awareness and innovative spirit.

Students of Zhou Enlai Red Army Primary School in Huaian city visited the local Aerospace Science Museum where an aerospace flight simulator attracted the students' eyeballs. Real-time dynamic simulations such as pitching and yaw made the students immersed in the situation and felt the unique charm of driving a spacecraft.

The children were given a more intuitive understanding of the history of Chinas space development and the aerospace science and technology through comprehensive and detailed picture introduction, physical display and personal experience.

Students in a primary school of Zhenjiang city who are about to participate in the model airplane competition were taught how to operate the RC helicopter. The helicopter had to pass through the obstacle circle with a diameter of less than one meter, and then stop at the micro apron to complete the operation. Whoever has no mistakes and obtain the fastest natural score would be the winner.

A primary school in Shuyang County launched the "My Space Dream" theme activity. In addition to collecting information and watching short films to learn about aerospace knowledge, the teacher also told the students about the touching stories of the astronauts and inspired everyone to work hard to learn knowledge and contribute to the country in the future.

China designated April 24 as Space Day in 2016 to mark the anniversary of the country’s first satellite launch in 1970. China's first man-made satellite, Dongfanghong-1, was successfully launched on April 24, 1970. It was a groundbreaking and foundational event in the history of China space cause.
