The 4th Victoria-Jiangsu Mayors’ Dialogue was held Wednesday in Nanjing. Vice Governor Guo Yuanqiang met with the mayor delegation from Victoria, Australia headed by Sally Capp, Mayor of Melbourne City.

Jiangsu officials from the city of Wuxi, Suzhou, Huai'an, Yangzhou, Suqian and Victorian representatives from the city of Melbourne, Maribyrnong, Whitehorse and Ballarat participated in the dialogue to discuss the construction of intelligent and liveable cities. At the dialogue, cooperation agreements were signed between Suzhou and Melbourne, Yangzhou and Ballarat, Huishan District of Wuxi and Maribyrnong.

Taking the opportunity of Nanjing Tech Week--2019 JIANGSU-VICTORIA STARTUP competition, both sides discussed the cooperation between Jiangsu province and Victoria state to promote the integration of technology, information and culture.
Victoria became the first overseas state to forge sister relations with Jiangsu province in 1979. This dialogue is one of series of activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the sister state relationship between Jiangsu and Victoria.
Since the establishment of exchange mechanism of the mayors’ dialogue between Jiangsu and Victoria in 2014, it has successively promoted the establishment of sister relations between Yangzhou and Ballarat, Jintan District of Changzhou and Shepperton, Haimen District of Nantong and Bendigo, etc. Currently, eight pairs of cities have forged sister relations between Jiangsu and Victoria.
