Lou Qinjian, secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, visited Japan from last Thursday to Sunday. He met with Japanese politicians and business tycoons, carried out a series of exchange activities in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, culture, and reached consensus on a number of cooperation projects.
The Japan External Trade Organization and the Tokai Japan-China Trade Center are influential institutional groups in Japan and play an important role in the exchanges and cooperation between Jiangsu and Japan.
Lou Qinjian met with Nobuhiko Sasaki, Chairman of the Japan External Trade Organization and Ozawa Tetsu, president of Tokai Japan-China Trade Center and exchanged views on further deepening cooperation.
Lou remarked that in recent years, with the joint promotion of the leaders of China and Japan, the relationship between the two countries has presented a new atmosphere.
As an important province for regional cooperation between China and Japan, Jiangsu will earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and strengthen communication with Japan, including the Japan Trade Promotion Agency and the Tokai Japan-China Trade Center, in the development of trade, investment and emerging industries, cooperate in talent exchanges and global market development to make new and greater contributions to deepening bilateral relations, said the CPC Provincial chief.
Sasaki and Ozawa said that Jiangsu has a broad market, strong technological power, solid manufacturing base and good business environment, adding that they are willing to work side by side with Jiangsu to deepen cooperation and win-win development in two-way investment and technological innovation.
Lou Qinjian noted that the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ and the Mizuho Bank are among the top financial institutions in Japan, and they have made great progress by making Jiangsu a key destination of their overseas business operation.
When meeting in Tokyo with Mitsubishi UFJ President Nobuyuki Hirano and Mizuho Bank Governor Fujiwara Hiroshi, Lou pointed out that the current world trade pattern is undergoing profound changes and adjustments, which means greater opportunity for cooperation between the two sides.
He said Jiangsu is willing to share development opportunities with Japanese financial institutions and seize opportunities, further develop the respective advantages and jointly provide third-party markets for Jiangsu and Japanese companies to deepen cooperation in various fields while serving the Japanese-funded enterprises.
Nobuyuki Hirano and Fujiwara Hiroshi said that they should further strengthen the opportunities and advantages of docking Jiangsu on the basis of existing cooperation, continuously deepen the cooperation in financial services, and achieve mutual benefit and win-win in a wider scope.
Lou also witnessed the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Business Cooperation between Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce and Japan Mizuho Bank Co., Ltd.
The CPC Provincial chief visited Aichi Prefecture and held talks with Governor Daisuke Hideo and Speaker Kono. The two sides stated that since the twinning of sister relations in 1980, the two sides have achieved gratifying results in the fields of economic and trade cooperation and cultural exchanges. The exchanges and cooperation between the two sides has become closer with the opening of the direct flights between Nanjing and Nagoya in June this year.
The two sides agreed to jointly plan the series of activities for the 40th anniversary of the twinning relations between the two regions next year, and use this as an opportunity to further expand cooperation in various fields such as new energy vehicles and people-to-people exchanges, and push the relationship between the two sides to a new level and benefit the two together.
When meeting with Ogawa Yoko, Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, and the president of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly, Lou said that the two regions have had frequent exchanges of high-level visits and have carried out fruitful exchanges and cooperation in the fields of industry, environmental protection, culture, education, and medical care. He hoped that both sides would improve the mechanism of exchanges and cooperation, enhance the level of cooperation, and work together to build a benchmark for local cooperation between China and Japan.
Ogawa Yoko and the president of the Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly thanked Lou Qinjian for visiting Fukuoka Prefecture after his first visit when taking office as head of the Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee. They believe that Fukuoka Prefecture and Jiangsu Province have a good foundation for cooperation with great potential. They said that they will take the visit by the Jiangsu delegation as a new starting point, and continue to deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields and promote the continuous development of relations between the two places.
Lou Qinjian also investigated the headquarters of Toyota Motor Corporation and hoped that Toyota and Jiangsu will further deepen industrial and innovation cooperation. Toyota Motor Corporation President Uchiyama Tatsuo said that he is willing to further expand investment and achieve a win-win situation. Mr. Lou also met with Ichiro Kashitani, President & CEO of Toyota Tsusho Co., Ltd. to reach a consensus on further strengthening cooperation.
During the visit, the CPC Provincial chief was also invited to visit the Aichi County Ping Pong Diplomatic Memorial Wall, the Kyushu University's most advanced organic optoelectronics research center, and the Kyushu National Museum. Song Yaoming, China’s economic and business envoy to Japan, Liu Xiaojun, Chinese Consul General in Nagoya, and He Zhenliang, Chinese Consul General in Fukuoka, joined in some of the activities.
