Recently, the official website of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Water Resources announced the result of "search for Jiangsu memory of the Grand Canal" activity. 40 places were appraised the most beautiful canal landmarks in Jiangsu, among which, 3 places in Taizhou were selected, that is, Qinhu Lake, Taizhou dam supervision official department, and Fengcheng River.
Qinhu Lake is both the core area and the leading area for the tourism development in Jiangyan. Known as the "water pearl”, Qinhu Lake covers a total area of 26 square kilometers, about 37 percent of which are lakes and rivers. It is the national wetland park, pilot area of national forest tourism demonstration, national ecological tourism demonstration area, national 5A-class scenic spot, national water conservancy scenic spot, and national environmental science education base.
Built during Qing Dynasty by Gao Fenghan, Taizhou dam supervision official department is an important historical and cultural relic of salt tax in our city. The Fengcheng River scenic spot is located in the center of Taizhou city. Surrounded by water, it fully shows the rare urban water charm and becomes the unique cultural feature of Taizhou.
