The Changzhou plant of Man Diesel & Turbo China Production received industrial equipment imported from Germany thanks to the China-Europe truck route on July 28.

The truck departed from Duisburg, Germany at noon on July 16, entered the Chinese port of Horgos on the afternoon of July 24, and then traveled all the way eastward to Changzhou.

This marked the first truck service between Changzhou and Europe, also the fourth logistics channel between the two regions, following aviation, ocean, and railway routes.

Generally, the "door-to-door" cargo transport from Germany to the Yangtze River Delta in China takes 8 to 10 days by air, 28 days by railway, and more than 35 days by the sea. There was no way of transportation that takes about two weeks until the opening of the truck route by the Suzhou-based Daoxin Supply Chain Management in late August last year.

Truck transportation is almost as quick as air transportation, but its cost is close to that of the railway. By using truck, the Changzhou company saved cost about 30 percent. At present, Changzhou has already a number of companies considering using the truck service. Since this week, the truck route will operate regularly, departing Changzhou on Monday and Thursday, and returning from Duisburg on Tuesday and Friday.
