The Suzhou-Nantong Yangtze River Bridge, commonly known as Sutong Bridge, was placed under intensive maintenance on Saturday. The maintenance on the bridge, which opened to traffic in June 2008, will last 26 days. In the original plan, the maintenance will last 150 days. Considering the need for the smooth traffic, the construction company optimized the plan by starting the maintenance in August, a time of relatively low traffic volume. Drivers have been advised to check the availability of the bridge’s passage and when necessary take detours to cross the Yangtze River at other crossings such as the Chongming-Qidong Bridge, the Jiangyin Yangtze River Bridge, the Nantong-Shazhou Ferry and the Nantong-Changzhou Ferry.
