Nanjing held a job fair for foreigners on November 17, when 76 Jiangsu companies offered about 200 jobs in areas such as new materials, electronic information, biomedicine and equipment manufacturing.
Altogether 500 people competed for positions in the fair, sponsored by the Foreign Talent Research Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The participants come from Germany, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, and other countries. Most of the job seekers were international students, including graduates from Nanjing University, Southeast University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Nanjing University of Science and Technology.
Teaching the foreign language has become less attractive to foreign job hunters who were more interested in jobs requiring professional skills in research, ICs, and high-end equipment manufacturing.
