The Jiangsu Provincial Government and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs signed a ministerial-provincial cooperation framework agreement in Nanjing on Tuesday to jointly promote the province’s effort to lead the country’s development of agriculture and rural areas. Before signing the contract, the provincial party secretary Lou Qinjian and the governor Wu Zhenglong met with Han Changfu, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs. Ren Zhenhe, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee, presided over the signing ceremony.
Lou Qinjian and Wu Zhenglong thanked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs for its long-term support to Jiangsu's development.
Lou Qinjian said that Jiangsu adheres to the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era as the guide, implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on Jiangsu's work, and strives to build a well-off society at a high level and actively explore the opening of a new journey to achieve basic modernization and accelerate the construction of a new and strong Jiangsu.
In the practice of promoting high-quality development, Jiangsu has always given priority to the development of agriculture and rural areas by complementing the short-term strengths and weaknesses in accordance with the goal of building a well-off society in an all-round way, grasping the characteristics of the times, exploring the reconstruction of urban-rural relations, and promoting the in-depth implementation of the rural revitalization strategy, he said.
The CPC provincial chief noted that Jiangsu will take the ministerial-provincial cooperation to further strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Areas, jointly implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech, enhance exploration and practice, promote the high-quality development of Jiangsu's agricultural and rural areas so as to ensure that the province become the front runner in the promotion of rural revitalization in the country.
Efforts will be made to embark on a successful road to modernization of agriculture and rural areas and make new contributions to the overall development of the country, he added.
Han Changfu said that Jiangsu is an economic powerhouse with a high level of industrialization, urbanization, opening-up and also a major agricultural province with advanced levels in the issues concerning agriculture, farmers and rural areas.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs will adhere to the Xi Jinping Thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era as the guide, implement the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech on the issues concerning agriculture, farmers and rural areas and Jiangsu's work.
He remarked that the Ministry will give full play to the advantages of Jiangsu's agricultural and rural economic base and strong comprehensive agricultural production capacity, jointly promote the comprehensive upgrading of Jiangsu's agriculture, rural progress, comprehensive development of farmers and urban-rural integration, so as to create experience and boost confidence for the nationwide advancement of agricultural and rural modernization.
Wu Zhenglong and Han Changfu signed the agreement on behalf of both parties.
According to the cooperation agreement, the two sides will focus on Jiangsu's goal of basically realizing the modernization of agriculture and rural areas, establish a working mechanism, refine the construction plan, support innovation policies, and jointly promote the construction of modern agricultural industrial system.
Efforts will also be made to promote the construction of beautiful and livable countryside, build a well-off society in an all-round way, and boost the integrated development of the urban and rural areas so as to realize the modernization in terms of the issues concerning agriculture, farmers and rural areas.
Yu Xinrong, deputy minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Guo Yuanqiang, standing member of the provincial party committee and secretary of the provincial party committee, and Chen Jiangang, secretary general of the provincial government, attended the meeting and contract-signing ceremony.
