Lou Qinjian, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Director of the Standing Committee of the Provincial People's Congress, joined in a panel discussion Wednesday afternoon with deputies from south Jiangsu’s Changzhou city.
Lou Qinjian said Jiangsu maintained a steady development trend in the past year against the economic downturn and entered a high-quality development track, accelerated structural adjustment, upgraded development quality and improved people's livelihood.
He noted that the government work report made a comprehensive summary of the province’s achievements in 2019 under the leadership of the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, adding that the work plan for 2020 is in line with the decision-making policies of the central government and the deployment of the 7th plenary session of the Provincial Party Committee.
The CPC Provincial chief spoke highly of the achievements made by Changzhou in the past year.
He required that in the face of the regional competition, Changzhou must grasp the development law from a global perspective, build confidence in stable development, effectively optimize the industrial structure and seize the opportunity to implement new development concepts so as to promote high-quality development and build a new Jiangsu.
The CPC Provincial chief noted that high-quality development of the manufacturing industry must be promoted by further strengthening the global perspective, seize the changes and opportunities brought by the development of computers and information technology, promote the transformation and upgrading of the manufacturing industry, and pay more attention to basic research, original innovation, integrated innovation and cross-integrated innovation.
He hoped that Changzhou would better promote the two-way integration of scientific research and industry, rely on independent and controllable technologies to solve bottlenecks, improve the industrial chain, create a good development environment and gain the upper hand in the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.
Lou Qinjian demanded that more efforts should be made to further promote the integrated development of urban and rural areas, make overall coordination of urban layout, urban functions, industrial positioning, and infrastructure construction so as to highlight solving imbalanced and inadequate development between the urban and rural areas.
He said institutional innovation should be further reformed that that more talents, funds and technologies will flow into the rural areas so as to promote the interactive development of urban and rural areas for common prosperity.
The CPC Provincial chief asked authorities in Changzhou to solve prominent livelihood issues and make up for the weaknesses in education reform, medical and health care, shanty town renovation and and environmental protection.
He also demanded that more exploratory efforts should be made to open up new journey of basically achieving modernization on the basis of realizing a comprehensively well-off society in an all-round way.
