Jiangsu helps to shore up global fight against pandemic

East Chinas Jiangsu province has stood together with people in other countries through information sharing and expert advice that is expected to help shore up the confidence in effectively fighting against COVID-19 pandemic.


Experts in disease control, public health, and medical treatment from Jiangsu province had a remote meeting on April 9 to share with their Argentine counterparts Jiangsu's experience in fighting the epidemic on such issues as epidemic prevention and control, diagnosis and treatment, case tracking, and medical staff working standards. The meeting was sponsored by the Jiangsu Provincial Health Commission.

Argentina reports 1,795 confirmed COVID-19 cases and more than 60 deaths. Experts from Jiangsu shared their experience in establishing a screening model for critically ill patients, which is particularly important for the prevention and treatment of the pandemic and treatment of the patients.

Since the outbreak of the global epidemic, experts from Jiangsu have shared Chinas anti-epidemic experiences with their counterparts in Italy, Israel, Canada and some other countries through video meetings and email exchanges. The province is also expected to cooperate with Namibia, Poland and some other countries on issues concerning the prevention and control of the pandemic.


On April 7, a team of medical experts from east Chinas Jiangsu province visited three designated hospitals in Caracas, capital of Venezuela, and gave advice on the treatment of COVID-19 patients with critical illness at one hospital.

56 designated hospitals in Venezuela admit and treat COVID-19 patients. Jose Jerena Hospital, one of the designated hospitals, has treated 1,110 people with respiratory diseases since the establishment of a quarantine zone for COVID-19 on March 14.

The Chinese experts exchanged views with their Venezuelan counterparts on issues such as patient respiratory support, antiviral therapy, and steroid use.


Restrepo, head of the quarantine zone at Jose Jerena Hospital, said: "We are very happy that a multi-disciplinary team of Chinese experts have visited our hospital to share their anti-epidemic experience which is very important to us. Through the exchange of experience, we can better treat our patients. "

The medical team from Jiangsu arrived in Caracas, capital of Venezuela, on March 30. The team of 8 front-line experts from Jiangsu will help contain COVID-19 pandemic in the South American country.
