East China’s Jiangsu province has taken targeted measures to enhance the crackdown on illegal fishing in the Yangtze River in response to the country’s 10-year fishing ban in the country’s longest river.
No enterprises, farm markets, wholesale markets, supermarkets, restaurants and e-commerce stores will be allowed to produce, process and market fish and related products from the Yangtze River starting on July 17.
No operators are allowed to promote the sales of fish from the Yangtze River with conspicuous labels such as Wild Yangtze River Fish and Wild Aquatic Delicacies.
No advertisements will be allowed to be distributed concerning the capture, sales, purchase, transport, transfer and processing of the fish and related products from the Yangtze River.
Violations on the fishing ban will be punished and made public. Tip-offs will be handled by dialing 12315 and a reward will be doled out according to regulations.
