The city of Xuzhou in east China’s Jiangsu province is poised for its role of being a central city in the Huaihai Economic Zone by practicing new development concept and prompting new development patterns.
Xuzhou started the construction of a dedicated railway line in the Xuzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone with a total investment of 1.8 billion yuan, in order to open up the "last mile" of the Xuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone and improve the service level of the comprehensive bonded zone.
In recent years, Xuzhou Comprehensive Bonded Zone has accelerated the construction of a series of practical measures such as "bonded +" industrial chain with various indicators taking the lead in the country.
In the past five years, Xuzhou has unswervingly corrected its development concept, changed its development mode, and promoted the optimization of the layout, transformation and upgrading of the four traditional industries such as steel and coking, while paying more attention to structural adjustment, open development, safe production and environmental protection.
Breakthroughs have been made in several industrial projects such as equipment and intelligent manufacturing, new energy, integrated circuits and ICT so that it has become a national demonstration zone for industrial transformation and upgrading of old industrial cities and resource-based cities.
Since the "13th Five-Year Plan", Xuzhou has reduced the number of steel plants, coking plants, cement plants and coal-fired power plants from 18, 11, 62 and 24 to 2, 3, 15 and 15.
At present, Xuzhou’s emerging industries and high-tech industries account for 42% and 47% of the city’s entire industrial output value.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Xuzhou will continue to promote the development of high-end, intelligent, green, and service-oriented traditional manufacturing industries, and efforts will be made to build a regional industrial technology innovation center with innovative leadership.
