The port city of Lianyungang in east China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts to boost high-quality development by taking advantage of its unique role of being an important sea hub along the Eurasian Continental Bridge under the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Lianyungang sub-zone of the Jiangsu Free Trade Zone recently introduced the country’s first rail-water container transport mode.
An electronic document covers all aspects of railway waybill, ocean shipping booking note, and shipping packing list, which greatly reduces transportation costs and improves transportation efficiency.
Since its establishment more than a year ago, the Lianyungang sub-zone of the Jiangsu Free Trade Zone has adhered to differentiated and characteristic system innovation and exploration, and produced 6 replication and promotion reform pilot experiences and 6 innovative practice cases.
During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, Lianyungang maintained growth momentum in its urban development, as is evidenced by the initial shape of a world-class deep-water port, a three-dimensional integrated transportation hub, and a high-level and large-scale port industrial base.
In the "14th Five-Year Plan", Lianyungang will rely on sea and land combined transportation to help promote the international and domestic economic circulation so as to build the port city into an influential regional development center, a key industry center, a comprehensive hub center, and accelerate the construction of a first-class free trade pilot zone.
During the "14th Five-Year Plan" period, Lianyungang will invest 600 billion yuan in major industries. At the same time, it will promote the construction of national-level innovative cities and stimulate creative vitality through deeper reforms.
