The provincial government held a press conference on Monday to give a detailed interpretation of the recently issued Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for Economic and Social Development and the Long-Term Goals for the Year 2035 of Jiangsu Province.
The outline takes "a strong and beautiful Jiangsu" as the overall layout, and the new mission and new requirements of "strive to be an example, a demonstration, and walk in the forefront" as the running theme. The outline includes the preface, and 59 chapters, putting forward the objectives of building a strong province of science and technology, building a strong province of manufacturing, expanding the domestic demand market, building an open province, strengthening digital transformation, promoting rural revitalization, promoting provincial integration, perfecting infrastructure, improving the quality of the population, promoting common prosperity, building a beautiful Jiangsu, etc., so as to ensure a good start and a good step in socialist modernization.

Centering on the new goal and vision, the Outline sets 28 major indicators in five categories, including strong economy, rich people, beautiful environment, high social civilization and security. In terms of "strong economy," the average annual growth rate of GDP is about 5.5%, and R & D spending is about 6.5%. "The rich people" including the average annual growth of disposable income of about 5.5%, average life expectancy of 80 years. In terms of environmental surroundings, the percentage of good air quality days in cities at or above the prefecture level increased to 82%. The "high level of social civilization" includes an increase in the average length of education of the working-age population to 12.3 years. In terms of "security guarantee," it means the comprehensive grain production capacity will be maintained at more than 74 billion jin.
