Starting on April 10, 1224 sets of trains will be added in the Yangtze River Delta in a bid to increase the passenger transport capacity to cope with the rising flows due to the improving conditions in epidemic prevention and control.
In the meantime, 1295 sets of freight trains will be put into operation, the railway authority said.
7 bullet train sets will continue to be in service between Xuzhou and Lianyungang.
8 high-speed train sets will be redirected from the Xuzhou-Yancheng-Lianyungang rail track to the Xuzhou-Lianyungang route.
Direct high-speed rail service will also be made available between Lianyungang and destinations in central and west China.
6 new train sets will be operated between Xuzhou East, Suining, Suqian to Shanghai, Nanjing and Anqing to respond to the shortfall in transport capacity.
Yancheng will launch its first-ever bullet train service linking up Shanghai via Suzhou, Wuxi and Changzhou.
