The National Medical Center and National Regional Medical Center teleconferences were held in Beijing and Nanjing on Tuesday. Ma Xiaowei, Director of the National Health Commission, and Wu Zhenglong, Governor of Jiangsu, delivered speeches at the meeting.
On behalf of the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial Government, Wu Zhenglong expressed his gratitude to the National Health Commission for its long-term support for the development of Jiangsu's health care system.
He pointed out that in recent years, Jiangsu has adhered to the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era, implemented General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on healthcare and the important instructions for Jiangsu’s work, promoted the construction of the healthy Jiangsu campaign, and continued to deepen the medical and health system, make reforms in the improvement of the medical and health service system to ensure that medical service capabilities and major health indicators of urban and rural residents rank among the top in China.
In the face of the sudden outbreak of the COVID-19 epidemic, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core, we insisted on giving priority to the safety and health of the people, the governor said, adding that the achievements are attributed to the personal command of General Secretary Xi Jinping and the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee, the effective coordination of the joint prevention and control mechanism of the State Council and the careful guidance and strong support from the National Health Commission.
Wu Zhenglong pointed out that the construction of the National Medical Center and the National Regional Medical Center is an in-depth implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions on healthcare, and specific actions to ensure the safety and health of the people’s lives. This is a major move to adhere to the people-centered development concept, deepen the structural reform of the medical service supply side, and improve the regional medical and health standards.
We will put the development of medical and health undertakings in a prominent position in the overall situation, and take the opportunity of building a national medical center and a national regional medical center to further integrate resources, optimize the structure, and increase support and guarantees in terms of policies, funds, land, and talents to accurately understand the new development stage, act on the new development philosophy and accelerate the establishment of the new development paradigm.
The governor emphasized the need to take measures to strengthen scientific research, innovate systems and mechanisms, and strive to build each center into a first-class clinical diagnosis and treatment center, a high-level talent training base, a high-level scientific research innovation and transformation platform, and build a national medical center and regional medical services at all levels.
