Breakthroughs have been made in the construction of major scientific and technological innovation platforms in Jiangsu since the beginning of this year, which strongly supports Jiangsu’s exploration of the development path for national science and technology and industry.
A large number of experiments are required to accumulate scientific data during the research and development of aero engines and gas turbines.
The country’s first test bench of the national major scientific and technological infrastructure project "Efficient and Low-Carbon Gas Turbine Test Device" was ignited in Lianyungang recently.
With a total investment of more than 2 billion yuan, this set of scientific research platform will fill the gap in China's high-power gas turbine test equipment with a number of technical indicators at the international advanced level.
Guan Shujiang, Deputy Director of Engineering Office of High-efficiency and Low-Carbon Gas Turbine Test Equipment
"This project will promote basic scientific research and engineering scientific research in aerospace and will play a vital role in the cultivation of the industrial chain," said Guan Shujiang, Deputy Director of Engineering Office of High-efficiency and Low-Carbon Gas Turbine Test Equipment.
Since the beginning of this year, Jiangsu has made continuous breakthroughs in the construction of major scientific and technological innovation platforms. The country's first third-generation semiconductor technology innovation center, and the Nanjing University of Posts and Telecommunications jointly established the State Key Laboratory of Organic Electronics and Information Display with the approval from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
Xu Ke, Dean of Jiangsu Third Generation Semiconductor Research Institute
"We concentrate on building this platform, through the support of the government and overcome difficulties by using the most advanced equipment," said Xu Ke, Dean of Jiangsu Third Generation Semiconductor Research Institute.
Wang Xie, Deputy Director of Suzhou Biomedical Industry Innovation Center
"We undertake the country's strategic mission in the field of biomedicine to promote the high-quality development of the industry and an improvement in technological innovation capabilities," said Wang Xie, Deputy Director of Suzhou Biomedical Industry Innovation Center.
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, Jiangsu actively integrated into the national innovation system and promoted the construction of major scientific and technological innovation platforms. In 2016, the National Supercomputing Center in Wuxi developed the world's first and also the fastest supercomputer Sunway TaihuLight with a speed of one billion operations per second.
In the past five years, the National Supercomputing Center has supported nearly 400 institutions with more than 1,000 users to carry out scientific research every year, and assisted more than 30 Jiangsu enterprises to carry out product upgrade innovation and digital transformation every year.
Yang Guangwen, Director, National Supercomputing Center
"Whether it is the support of scientific issues, the research and development of major equipment, or the development of industry, what we are doing is aimed at solving the major needs of the country and the development of the industry," said Yang Guangwen, Director, National Supercomputing Center.
Jiangsu has sorted out 29 major scientific and technological innovation platform projects for key cultivation and construction, including nano-vacuum interconnection experimental stations, future network test facilities, brain imaging research platforms, Zijinshan Cyber Communication and Security Laboratory, Materials Science Gusu Laboratory, and Taihu Laboratory of Deep-Sea Technology Science.
