Jinchang Sub-district of Gusu District has worked with Jiangsu Ximalaya to build the district’s first “24-hour city bookstore”, which has been upgraded and formally put into use recently.
It is situated on Yinhe Square, Shilu Pedestrian Street.
The bookstore has upgraded its equipment and contents, increased the number of paper books and e-books and combined the traditional library with modern technologies to provide residents with a new reading experience.
The “24-hour city bookstore” is characterized by three features: it’s unattended, operated at low cost and opened 24/7, which distinct it from traditional community reading areas and retail bookstores that sell paper books.
Listening to audiobooks is a kind of reading as well. The bookstore is equipped with various audio technologies and audio experience scenarios. Visitors can obtain numerous selected audiobooks on Ximalaya FM by scanning the QR code. The audiobooks cover all fields and are updated automatically in the background to meet the needs of different people.
During the Labor Day holiday, the “24-hour city bookstore” attracted more than 5,000 people daily and over 80 percent of its users were born after the 1980s.
Through the integration of paper resources and digital resources, the “24-hour city bookstore” allows residents to have an all-round and immersive reading experience brought by new technologies.
