East China’s Jiangsu province has called for greater efforts to strengthen production safety by following General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and Premier Li Keqiang’s important instructions on work safety in the wake of a gas explosion in Shiyan city of central China's Hubei province so as to ensure a safe and sound situation for the centenary of the CPC.
Provincial Party Secretary Lou Qinjian gave instructions for the provincial meeting on work safety. Wu Zhenglong, governor and director of the Provincial Work Safety Commission, addressed the meeting.
Lou Qinjian called for the thorough implementation of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important instructions and Premier Li Keqiang’s instructions, draw lessons from the gas explosion accident in Shiyan city of Hubei province, further enhance political awareness, strengthen responsibilities, and resolutely prevent and contain the possible occurrence of major accidents.
He said that the hot and rainy summer makes it all the more necessary to strengthen production safety in a targeted manner, strengthen inspections of urban gas, hazardous chemicals, transportation, and campus safety, troubleshoot various hidden dangers, ensure the safety of people’s lives and property for the harmony and stability of the overall social situation, and create a good atmosphere for the centenary of the founding of the party.
Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu, pointed out that this year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, the beginning of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and the beginning of the new journey of building a modern socialist country in an all-round way, making it all the more important to strengthen production safety.
He hoped that governments at all levels in the province will follow General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important expositions and important instructions to strengthen production safety and promote safety-oriented development from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core.
The Governor urged more efforts to strengthen work and production safety by accurately understanding the new development stage, acting on the new development philosophy and accelerating the establishment of the new development paradigm to drive high-quality development during the 14th Five-Year Plan period.
He reiterated that production safety is of utmost importance and greater efforts should be made to strengthen production safety by increasing the sense of urgency and ensure that the transportation, chemical industry, hazardous chemicals, transportation, marine fishery, construction and urban gas, coal, marine fishery, urban safety, tourism, fire protection and agricultural machinery industries are cleared of major risks and hidden dangers during the upcoming Labor Day holiday so as to create a safe and stable environment for celebrating the centenary of the Communist Party of China.
