As the central government framed tough new rules to clamp down on the booming private tutoring industry with a view to easing pressure on school children, the private tutoring sector is seeking breakthroughs through adjustment amid the policy change.

The 100 Percent Training School is a private tutoring institution in Nantong. At its campus on the South Street in Nantong City, the classrooms are empty and the lights are turned off.

The head of the 100 Percent Training School said he is in sympathy with the nationwide "double reduction" policy that aims to relieve students of the burden of excessive homework and reduce the need for after-school tutoring,

Speiyou.com, a large provider of curriculum-based tutoring institution, used to see the students pack to the full during weekend training at its campus in Nandajie of Nantong city.

The campus is now very quiet as the institution is seeking active adjustment to abide by the government’s regulation on private tutoring.

In the meantime, primary and junior high school students in Nantong city have benefited from the new education policy as they have been relieved of the excessive homework, reduced the need for after-school tutoring and are allowed to pursue their hobbies.

The novel facilities in Nantong Science and Technology Museum are both entertaining and inspiring, and are thus favored by parents and children, making it a popular place on weekends.

While the students are relieved of the burden of excessive homework and reduced the need for after-school tutoring, their motivation to learn is not reduced in any sense. Many parents take their children to the library so that they can freely choose the books of interest, soak in the strong reading atmosphere of the library, and cultivate the ability to learn independently.
