The Ecological Restoration Case of the Yellow Sea Wetland Heritage Site in Yancheng city has been selected as one of the Biodiversity 100+ Global Special Recommended Cases out of 258 applications from 26 countries.
In recent years, Yancheng has taken on the responsibility of protecting the world's natural heritage by actively exploring paths and mechanisms for effective protection of biodiversity in a bid to provide a sample of Yancheng for the protection of global biodiversity.
The Tiaozi mud wetland in Dongtai in October is a paradise for birds. Spoon-billed sandpipers, little green shanks and other rare birds unique to the world gather here to form a spectacular scene.
With the Tiaozi mud wetland in Dongtai as its core area, the Yellow Sea Wetland has the world's largest intertidal tidal flat, where millions of migratory birds stop every year.

On July 5, 2019, the first phase of China's Yellow Sea and Bohai Sea Migratory Bird Habitat Project was selected into the World Heritage List, becoming China's first marine world natural heritage.
Yancheng has set aside an area of 720 mu and invested one million yuan in micro-topography transformation, bare beach wetland restoration, environmental improvement to create the first fixed high-tide migratory bird habitat in China.
