Shopping Festival 2021, a festival focusing on "consumption of benefiting the people", brought people more new consumption scenes, new fun and new experience. According to the monitoring data to 77 key business enterprises in Wuxi, the total retail sales of consumer goods during the National Day holiday reached 1.559 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 20.7%.
Shopping Festival 2021 issued 30 million yuan of consumer vouchers online and offline and launch six “Top Ten Activities” such as high-quality consumption alliance of trade circulation enterprises, night economic district with high-quality products and cultural tourist week. During Shopping Festival 2021, a total of 526 distinctive promotional activities were held in the whole city, so as to boost consumption with substantial discounts.
To promote consumption is to promote development. At the 14th Wuxi Municipal People’s Congress of the CPC which closed not long ago, it was clearly proposed to build an international central city for consumption and a city with assured consumption nationwide. Under such background, Shopping Festival 2021 was obviously held to improve the business environment in higher quality and develop new drivers of economic development. Therefore, Shopping Festival 2021 didn’t end in providing discounts. Many events were launched according to consumption upgrade and the building of an international central city for consumption. They changed the previous way of product promotion to experiential consumption scene building with urban features, cultural deposit and modern brand.
