Wu Zhenglong, governor of Jiangsu province, has stressed ensuring stable energy supply and energy security and boosting green development support. He made the remarks when presiding over a provincial government meeting on Tuesday.
Wu Zhenglong demanded efforts to follow the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics in the New Era as the guide, to thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speeches and important instructions, implement the policies and decisions of the Party Central Committee and the State Council, study and judge the situation, treat both symptoms and root causes, and make targeted efforts to ensure safe and reliable energy security, effective and orderly dual control of energy consumption, ensure the daily needs of the people and the stable operation of the economy, and promote green, low-carbon, and high-quality development.

The Governor called for measures to accelerate the transformation of existing industries for energy conservation and carbon reduction, further improve the dual energy consumption control mechanism, and promote the green and low-carbon transformation of production and lifestyle.
He said that the province should balance development and carbon reduction, deepen market-based reform in the energy sector, and promote green transformation.
Energy security bears on development security and national security, Wu Zhenglong noted, stressing the province's need to build a modern energy system on the premise of ensuring security and strive to improve the capacity of independent energy supply.
Governor Wu called for efforts to ensure the stability of industrial and supply chains and sustained and steady economic development, adding that these efforts should come amid moves to promote the clean use of coal, increase clean energy proportions in total energy consumption, and enhance green development capacity.
