Suzhou’s neighboring city Shanghai unveiled a new suburban railway recently. The new line starts from the downtown area of Hongqiao, runs through Minhang and Qingpu districts, and stops at Shuixiangketing, or watertown meeting room. It will link up with a water town themed tourism route in Jiangsu province and another section of railway from Jiashan to Xitang in Zhejiang province. In addition, passengers can transfer to the new line from Shanghai Metro Line 13 and 17.

The new railway has a total length of 50 kilometers and eight stations, namely, Fanglelu Station (芳乐路站), Xulebeilu Station (徐乐北路站), Zhaochonggonglu Station (赵重公路站), Huaqinglu Station (华青路站), Qingpuxincheng Station (青浦新城站), Zhujiajiao Station (朱家角站), Xicen Station (西岑站) and Shuixiangketing Station (水乡客厅站, all are provisional names). According to the general plan, the Shuixiangketing Station will be built near Jinze Ancient Town, which is in close proximity to the border between Suzhou and Shanghai.

Besides, Suzhou Rail Transit Line 10, Shanghai Metro Line 17 and Jiaxing Rail Transit Line 3 will meet at the Shuixiangketing Station in the Demonstration Zone of Yangtze River Delta Integration, bringing greater convenience to the passengers and boosting the accessibility of the region.
