Jiangsu optimizes energy structure for coastal renewable energy development

  East China’s Jiangsu province has made unremitting efforts in recent years to optimize energy structure and builds coastal renewable energy development demonstration zone.

  Guoxin Jiangsu Rudong H2 Sea Uplift Station Platform,located in the Yellow Sea, has kept its 70 wind turbines continuously transmitting electrical energy to the shore through two submarine cables.

  This offshore wind power project is expected to provide about 1 billion kWh of electricity a year.

  with a total investment of 6.4 billion yuan, the Guoxin Jiangsu Rudong H2 offshore wind power project has installed 70 sets of 5 MW wind turbines.

  At the end of September this year, the first wind turbine was connected to the grid and then put into production at full capacity one month ahead of schedule. Thermal power generation can save about 300,000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 600,000 tons.

  The electricity connected to the State Grid network each year can meet the one-month electricity demand of about 3.3 million households.

  Since the beginning of this year, Nantong, Yancheng and Lianyungang have targeted the construction of green energy bases and have achieved fruitful results in the entire chain of wind power.

  At the end of June, the country’s first domestic offshore wind power project in the revolving tidal sea area was completed and put into operation in Lianyungang.

  In late November, the Yancheng Fenghai Power Transmission and Transformation Project, the largest offshore wind power absorption project in China, was put into operation, which is expected to meet the needs of Jiangsu's "North-South Power Transmission" and the introduction of clean energy from the northwest to Jiangsu.

  Statistics show that as of now, the province's new energy power generation by industrial enterprises above designated size has increased by 37.2% year-on-year. The increase of nuclear power generation, wind power generation and solar power generation came at 40%, 63%, and 9.7% respectively.
