Two university teachers in East China's Jiangsu province were recognized as envoys of friendship by the Foreign Affairs Office of Jiangsu Provincial People's Government at an awards ceremony held in Nanjing, the capital of the province, on Dec 20.

Among them is Roshan Shrestha from Nepal, who is responsible for recruiting international students at Nanjing Medical University. For nearly 20 years in China, Shrestha has organized more than 30 international exchange activities and established alumni associations in three universities, thus helping enhance cooperation between Jiangsu and Nepal in terms of economy, education, culture and tourism.

The other envoy is Lan Bo, who teaches Spanish and is studying China-Latin America relations at Jiangsu Normal University. He said that he would continue to communicate China's poverty alleviation experiences and Chinese culture to Latin American people, as well as develop courses about Jiangsu for overseas students.

Seventeen people from around the world received the honor at the ceremony, which was held for the 11th consecutive year. Envoys of friendship are made up of scholars, artists, business executives, Olympic champions, and international students who have made great contributions to exchanges between Jiangsu and other countries.
