Jiangsu’s first international food freight train on the China-Laos railway departed from Nanjing Tuesday morning to head for Vientiane, capital of Laos.
Loaded with US$650,000 worth of food packaging materials produced by COFCO, the train is expected to arrive in Vientiane in 7 days. The food packaging materials will serve local enterprises in Laos. Assisted by the cooperation of the railway department, the international trains have continuously improved the efficiency of procurement, packing and shipping, and efficient customs clearance services have also provided a guarantee for the regular operation of the international trains. With the implementation of RCEP, Nanjing Customs and the provincial freight train company will further optimize the approval process, gradually realize the normal operation of international freight trains on the China-Laos Railway, further unblock the railway freight channels in the Yangtze River Delta region and Southeast Asia, and promote economic and trade exchanges between RCEP member countries. New rapid trains on the China-Laos Railway began operating in early January to improve logistics efficiency and boost international trade.
