East China’s Jiangsu province will promote the development of a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network, according to an outline released recently by the provincial party committee and the provincial government.

By 2035, Jiangsu will basically build a modern and high-quality comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network that is convenient, smooth, cost-effective, low-carbon intensive, intelligent, advanced, safe and reliable.

Jiangsu will build about 35,400 kilometers of a comprehensive transportation network across the province, including an intercity railway network of about 8,300 kilometers, a highway network of about 7,100 kilometers, and 36 bridges or tunnels across the Yangtze River.

Urban travelers in prefecture-level cities can reach the high-speed rail and airport within 30 minutes and 60 minutes. Urban travelers in county-level cities can be assured of driving onto highways and arriving at train stations within 30 minutes. Township travelers can drive into national and provincial highways within 15 minutes.

In order to ensure the efficient and smooth flow of the comprehensive three-dimensional transportation network typical of world-class urban clusters, Jiangsu will build an urban travel circle of no more than 1 hour, a province-wide travel circle of 2 hours, a cross-provincial major city travel circle of 3 hours, a one-day domestic logistics delivery circle, a 2-day logistics delivery to neighboring countries, and 3-day logistics delivery to major cities around the world.

In order to create a comprehensive three-dimensional transportation hub for integration and sharing, Jiangsu will build an international comprehensive transportation cluster in the Yangtze River Delta with Shanghai, Nanjing and Hangzhou as the centers and Hefei and Ningbo as the hubs.

Jiangsu will also build world-class airport clusters and world-class port clusters in the Nanjing-Zhenjiang-Yangzhou urban cluster, the Suzhou-Wuxi-Changzhou-Nantong-Taizhou-Yancheng urban cluster and the Lianyungang-Xuzhou-Huai'an-Suqian urban cluster.

By 2035, Jiangsu will report an annual throughput of more than 250 million airport passengers and more than 3.9 million tons of cargo and mail. The province's ports will report a comprehensive throughput capacity of 2.8 billion tons and a container throughput capacity of 32 million TEUs.
