From January to February 2022, Huai'an achieved 6.65 billion yuan in foreign trade import and export, an increase of 14.3% over the same period last year. To be specific, the exports amounted to 5.17 billion yuan, up 23.2%. Therefore, a good start has been made in the city.
In light of product categories, Huai'an exported 1.39 billion yuan of electronic products in the first two months, a growth of 40%; exports of six categories of labor-intensive products, such as fabrics and clothing and plastics reached 1.32 billion yuan, an increase of 20.9%; and chemical products obtained 750 million yuan, a rise of 36%. Exports of Huai'an traditional advantageous products still maintained rapid growth. In addition, the export of auto parts and accessories, sporting goods, steel and steel products achieved 480 million yuan, 180 million yuan, and 120 million yuan, respectively.
From the trade countries, Huai'an's imports and exports to the top three trading partners, i.e. the EU, ASEAN and the U.S., were 1.22 billion yuan, 1.16 billion yuan and 920 million yuan, an increase of 0.2%, 10% and 29.5%, respectively. The trade volume to the United States hit a new high since 2018. Moreover, countries in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) region totaled 2.12 billion yuan, up 8.5% and accounting for 31.8% of the overall foreign trade. The entry into force of RCEP means that China and Japan have established bilateral free trade relations for the first time, and the city's imports and exports to Japan from January to February amounted to 340 million yuan, growing by 17.2%.
