East China’s Jiangsu province will continue to accelerate the renovation of old urban communities, shanty towns, and the construction of affordable rental housing, and public rental housing, the provincial housing and urban-rural development department said on Friday.
Qingtian Yaju Community in Qixia District, Nanjing was included in this year's new plan for renovation.
Qixia District Housing and Urban-rural Development Bureau, the sub-district government, and communities have held two council meetings with residents' representatives on new issues to collect residents' opinions and appeals, and form a list of community renovation projects.
Mr. Guo, who has lived in the community for nearly 20 years, said that in the past two years, problems such as water leakage and greening in the community have become more prominent.
Wang Kai, Deputy Secretary of Qingtian Yaju Community, Yaohua Sub-District, Qixia District, said that the residents have kept complaining about the rook leakage and road illumination.
Jiangsu will speed up urban renewal program this year by promoting the joint transformation of adjacent communities and surrounding areas, the overall transformation of the entire area, and building parking spaces, charging piles, cultural leisure and sports fitness facilities, fire safety equipment, property offices, and convenience service outlets in 1405 old residential communities and benefit 466.6 thousand households.
In the meantime, Jiangsu will speed up the construction of affordable rental housing, and public rental housing by the end of this year to respond to people’s demand for better housing.
