The Standing Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting on Friday to study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important speech delivered when participating in the voluntary tree planting activities in Beijing, and to study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important exposition on production safety and the important speeches at the meeting of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee.
The province should thoroughly study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, establish the concept that lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets, continue to promote ecological environmental protection, adhere to ecological priority and green development, strengthen the reduction of carbon emissions and pollution, and speed up the construction of a beautiful Jiangsu, according to a statement released after the meeting.
Efforts must be made to continue afforestation and land greening, conscientiously implement the forest chief system, adapt measures to local conditions and suitable trees, and on the premise of firmly maintaining the red line of arable land, make every effort to increase the forest coverage rate and green coverage rate, so that the people can enjoy more benefit from the improved ecological civilization, the statement said.
We must spare no effort to continue to promote pollution prevention and control, strengthen regional coordinated control and prevention of pollutants, continuously improve the ecological environment of the Yangtze River and Taihu Lake, scientifically and pragmatically promote carbon peaking and carbon neutrality, make optimized adjustment of the energy structure, industrial structure, and transportation structure, industrial development land structure, resolutely curb the blind development of high-pollution and high-emission investment projects, accelerate major key technological breakthroughs in low-carbon, zero-carbon and negative carbon, and vigorously and orderly promote the comprehensive green transformation of economic and social development.
The civil aviation industry must carry out investigation and rectification of hidden dangers, conduct key supervision on transport airports and airlines in the province, and resolutely defend the lifeline of civil aviation safety, said the statement.
Targeted measures should be taken to address latent hazards in key sectors involved in the production of chemical and hazardous chemicals, transportation, construction and engineering, gas and fire supply, energy storage power station, offshore wind farm, schools and railway and coach station so as to resolutely curb all kinds of serious accidents, said the statement.
Concerned government authorities should go all out to apply modern means such as information networking and remote supervision to accurately determine key inspection targets, optimize safety services, strengthen safety management through intelligent transformation and digital transformation, consolidate the foundation of production safety, and comprehensively improve the level of safety-oriented development, the statement said.
Efforts should be made to improve production safety and safeguard the security of people’s lives and property, with accountability measures in place, the statement said.
Authorities at the provincial, municipal and county levels must continue to carry out safety production supervision and urge the rectification of hidden dangers, so as to coordinate epidemic prevention and control with economic and social development, go all out to create a stable and healthy economic environment, a social environment of national security and public security, and a clean political environment, and welcome the convening of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China with practical action, said the statement.
