The standing committee of Jiangsu Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Party of China held a meeting on Monday to study the important speech delivered by General Secretary Xi Jinping at a grand gathering held last Friday that honored the contributions of groups and individuals to the Beijing Games. Provincial Party Secretary Wu Zhenglong presided over the meeting and delivered a speech.
The Beijing Winter Olympics and the Winter Paralympics are major landmark events held during the critical period of building a moderately prosperous society in an all-round way, realizing the first centenary goal, and moving towards the second centenary goal,making them of milestone significance, according to a statement released after the meeting.
General Secretary Xi Jinping's important speech at the summary and commendation conference fully affirmed the great achievements of the Beijing Winter Olympics and Winter Paralympics, comprehensively reviewed the extraordinary process of the preparations for the past seven years, and in-depth summed up the valuable experience in preparations, the statement said.
The sports galas profoundly expounded the spirit of the Beijing Winter Olympics, and put forward clear requirements for making good use of the Winter Olympics heritage to promote high-quality development, said the statement.
The General Secretary’s important speech is of high-level and broad-minded with rich connotation, and has a strong political, ideological, and guiding nature, which will further inspire the whole party and the people of all ethnic groups to forge ahead in a new journey, make contributions to a new era, and work together to build a modern socialist country in an all-round way and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, according to the statement.
We must vigorously carry forward the spirit of the Beijing Winter Olympics, strive to write a new chapter in the modernization of Jiangsu, and take practical actions to welcome the successful convening of the 20th National Party Congress of the Communist Party of China, said the statement.
Efforts should be made to study and understand the valuable experience of Beijing's "Four Persistences" in preparing for the Winter Olympics, enhance political stance, gain a deep understanding of the decisive significance that the Party has established Comrade Xi Jinping’s core position on the Party Central Committee and in the Party as a whole and defined the guiding role of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era from the political height of strengthening the four consciousnesses and the four self-confidences, safeguarding the authority of the CPC Central Committee and getting united around the centralized and unified leadership the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, said the statement.
